Donald Trump Jr. Might Be In Some Seriously Deep Doo-Doo
The Russia investigation took another turn yesterday (how many are we at now?) when the New York Times published email correspondence between Donald Trump Jr. and a Russian government aid, who was offering to help Trump’s campaign by sharing “damaging information about Hillary Clinton.” Shortly after the NYT’s story, Trump Jr. released the emails himself on Twitter, saying he was sharing them in order to be “totally transparent.” The most damaging part of the correspondence was when the mutual friend said there was a lawyer in Moscow who was a “Russian government attorney” who had dirt on Clinton and would be willing to share it as “part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump.” DT Jr’s response? I love it. (That sounds a whole lot like collusion to us.) Global News
What Else You Need to Know
The fact that DT Jr. admitted to meeting with a Russian lawyer had already affected the investigation, with Senator Tim Kaine saying it should move from obstruction of justice to treason. This new information (including that the campaign knew about Russia’s allegiance to DT Sr.) obviously makes things a little more clear for Robert Mueller. The special investigator’s spokesperson declined to comment, saying he couldn’t because of the ongoing investigation. But you know who did comment? POTUS (obviously). He praised his son, calling him a “high quality person” and applauding his “transparency.” (Like any good colluding father would do.)
Honestly, your guess is as good as ours. Anyone? Anyone?
