Someone Just Tried to Attack Paris — Again

The Background

A car rammed into a police vehicle yesterday in Paris in an attempted terrorist attack. The driver, who was known to French authorities and had been on a security watchlist since 2015 for “radical Islamist activities,” was killed in the incident. The car burst into flames on impact. A bomb disposal unit later found guns and gas in the vehicle, enough to “potentially blow this car up.” BBC

What Else You Need to Know

The good news is that nobody besides the perpetrator was hurt in the attempted attack, and authorities were able to contain the weapons before they caused any major damage. Police have searched the suspect’s home (in Essonne area south of Paris) and the anti-terrorist section of the prosecutor’s office will continue to monitor the situation to make sure it was a lone wolf and an isolated incident.
