FROM OUR PARTNER:
Time to Treat Yo’Self
There are few things in this world that are as awesome as a good loyalty program. Think about it: by using a certain credit card to purchase everyday things (toothpaste, toilet paper, you get the point), you rack up earnings that can be used to buy almost anything you want (hello, new handbag!). It’s a shopping win-win.
While there are several rewards programs out there, our current favourite is RBC Rewards®. As one of the top rewards programs in Canada, it gives us (and other credit card-carrying RBCers) access to amazing brands and products that can be redeemed using points. What’s more, the RBC Rewards app lets us do everything while we’re on the go — from tracking our balance to redeeming points. (There’s no better way to kill time on public transit.)
Here are a few of the ways you can redeem your points:
Travel: By perusing the rewards website or the RBC Rewards app, you’ll be able to earmark your earnings for stays at swanky hotels or even oceanic tours on top-tier cruise lines. In terms of airfare, 15,000 points will get you a quick flight to somewhere near your hometown while 35,000 will help you explore North America. And if you accrue 100,000 you can head to Asia or Africa. RBC Rewards also offers cool, customized vacation packages (so the trip planning is done for you).
Products: If you’re in need of a new laptop or tech toy, the RBC Rewards program has you covered. Redeem your points and order something new or just peruse 50,000+ products at Best Buy‡, all the latest gadgets from Apple‡ and so much more.
Gift Cards and Certificates: If you want to give your points as a gift (or even stock them away for personal spending later), you can convert them into gift cards or certificates. There are more than 50 partners to choose from, including Hudson’s Bay Company‡, Best Buy‡, Amazon.ca‡, Starbucks‡, Winners‡, Saks Fifth Avenue‡, Indigo‡, West Elm‡, Home Depot‡, Canadian Tire‡ and more.
Pay Off Debt: If you’re an RBC client, you can make the prudent (a.k.a. super smart) decision to use your points to repay a line of credit or even help pay off your credit card.
Invest: Similarly, you can use your points to help pay off your RBC mortgage, or to purchase mutual funds or other financial products.
Giving Back: There’s nothing more rewarding than giving back, so RBC makes it easy to donate to charity. Own the Podium‡, The David Foster Foundation‡, Ronald McDonald House Charities‡, and Hope Air‡ will all put your points to good use.
The best part about all of this is that rewarding yourself is simple. So why are you still here? To find a rewards card that’s right for you, click here – and visit the RBC Rewards site to learn more about the program.
